Dr. Barot joined Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston in 2023. Prior to that, he was at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Epilepsy Division from 2018 to 2023. He had two years of advanced fellowship training in Epilepsy and Neurophysiology at Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia from 2016 to 2018. He completed four years of Neurology training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He was elected Chief Resident during his final year of training and received the “Best Resident Award” from the hospital staff members. He is interested in the public health impact of neurological diseases and holds a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. He holds dual board certification in Epilepsy and Neurology.

Medical Services
Dr. Barot currently works both in the Epilepsy Clinic and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (Inpatient Video EEG monitoring) at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston. He provides advanced medical treatment and neuromodulation (RNS – Responsive Neurostimulation and VNS – Vagus Nerve Stimulator) based treatment for epilepsy patients. He works closely with the Neurosurgery department to determine the seizure onset zone with the use of Stereotactic intracranial EEG (SEEG) in patients with medically refractory epilepsy. He also works in continuous EEG service primarily dedicated to critical care patients in Neuro ICUs.

Epilepsy Diagnosis
We use advanced 3 Tesla Epilepsy Protocol Magnetic Resonance Imaging and video electroencephalography (EEG) studies for a comprehensive investigation and diagnosis of seizures and related conditions.

Epilepsy Management
We provide state of the art treatment for medically resistant epilepsy and seizures. This treatment includes neurostimulation devices like RNS (Responsive Neurostimulation), VNS (Vagus Nerve Stimulation) and newly available laser ablation for epileptic lesions which is performed by of our neurosurgery colleagues.
